The room itself was a nice size with a shower and had essentials we needed. The setting was easy, not far from a Cathedral like that overlooking the Town.

The Garden House Inn provided excellent value for money. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the attention to detail in the rooms and the pleasant bar area. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel's location was ideal, not far from Durham centre and conveniently near the railway station. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast in the conservatory, which added a lovely touch to our morning.
All was in order, no complaints.

The Garden House Inn is a lovely, friendly traditional pub and is a very popular eating place with the locals. We stayed there on a Tuesday and Wednesday night, and both nights the bar was full of diners, which is very unusual midweek these days. Our room was lovely and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were out of this world, efficient and friendly, and just couldn't do enough for you. We ate in the hotel both nights of our stay and the food was lovely and fantastic value for money, with a set menu available at £10 for two courses or £13 for three. The hotel is just over 5 minutes walk from the centre of Durham. We are thinking of going back there later in the year and will most definitely stay at the Garden House Inn again,

Value for money: This hotel offers great value for money with its reasonable prices and discounts available through vouchers. Convenient location: Situated within walking distance of the city center, this hotel is an ideal choice for exploring the nearby attractions. Attentive staff: The friendly and approachable staff at this hotel go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay for guests. Comfortable rooms: The rooms, though slightly dated, provide a cozy and comfortable environment with all the basic amenities one would need.
Room refurbishment: Although the rooms are comfortable, they could benefit from a more modern refurbishment to improve their overall feel.

The hotel was small and friendly, the bar downstairs was very warm and there was a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The rooms were very nicely decorated and were very clean and comfortable as was the bathroom- it was spotless. (A little shelf added to put your toothbrush and cosmetics would be perfect) I would recommed this hotel to couples and for business reasons. Parking was easy and the evening meal we had was very good. Well cooked, home made and reasonably priced. Breakfast is continental style and this was presented well and you could help yourself to what ever you wanted with the host being on-hand for anything which might have been missing. I went to my meeting well fed and well rested.
There wasn't anything really to dis-like. I was happy with my choice of accommodation.

good location, friendly helpful staff, good bar area, wide choice of beers, decent food, overall an excellent place to stay
although advertised as providing breakfast there was no mention of it being continental only- i would have preferred a cooked english breakfast.

Fantastic hospitality, coupled with the superb food served at incredibly affordable prices. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff we met - everything was explained in advance eg how the heating worked, availability of fresh milk, directions to the city. We would be prepared to travel many a mile to sample the food again, and to drink in the very welcoming bar (with open fires and a good selection of real ales). We cannot recommend the Garden House Inn highly enough. The chef deserves a special mention for the range, variety and excellent quality of the food.

Christmas at this hotel was a delightful experience! the staff was so friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We loved the cozy and comfortable rooms, equipped with all the facilities we needed. the bistro served the best chocolate brownie we have ever tasted, and the breakfast spread was quite good too. the best part was the peace and quiet we enjoyed, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The location, a bit of a walk up a steep hill from the town center. Crossing the busy road was also a bit of a challenge.
